What You Need to Know About Maintaining Your Jacuzzi Bath Tub
Jacuzzi and Hot Tub Maintenance
Having a Jacuzzi bath or hot tub turns your bathroom into a luxurious spa, where you can relax and unwind from the stresses of daily life in warm water. A Jacuzzi bath contains jets and is much more therapeutic and relaxing than a traditional bath. The Jacuzzi bathtub will contain a series of underwater jets which will give your body a soothing massage with bursts of hot tub water as you relax in the bath. Owning a Jacuzzi tub means that you will have to perform a little bit more maintenance and cleaning than you would with a traditional bathtub.
Regular Cleaning and Maintenance of the Jets
The jets need to be maintained and kept clean through regular maintenance so that the bathtub, or hot tub, will function the way that it should. Over time, residue, especially from hard water, will build up in the jets and can cause them to malfunction, necessitating regular maintenance. The minerals in the water can cause a buildup within the pipes and this hard scale restricts water flow and becomes a perfect breeding ground for bacteria if not maintained properly. Here are some tips that you should keep in mind for cleaning and maintaining your Jacuzzi tub, including hot tub clean practices and filter care.
How Often Should You Clean Your Jacuzzi Bath Tub?
The frequency at which you should clean your tub depends on how often you use it. If you use your tub regularly, then you should clean it at least every month. However, if you only use the Jacuzzi tub occasionally, you will only need to deep clean it every three months or even four months, but remember to check the hot tub filter and sanitise it as well.
How to Clean Your Jacuzzi Bathtub
Cleaning your Jacuzzi bath is not too difficult, as long as you follow the correct procedure and use the right materials. Start by filling up the tub high enough so that the water is at least two inches above the highest jets. This water doesn’t need to be too hot, but it should be warm water as this will make the cleansing more effective. The next step is to add a cleanser to the water. You can use a couple of tablespoons of any brand of dishwasher detergent. Next, turn on the jets of the Jacuzzi tub and run them as usual. Leave it for approximately 15-20 minutes. This will allow the soap to run through the plumbing system and clean out any dirt and residue that has accumulated in the pipes.
The next step is to drain the tub completely and then rinse it out and clean the tub itself with a non-abrasive cleanser. It is also possible to add one half cup of household bleach to the water the next time you clean the tub. However, this should not be done very often because although it will help to kill germs it also breaks down the rubber seals within the motor of the Jacuzzi. If used too much, this can break the seal and result in a leaky tub. Keeping your Jacuzzi bath well maintained will ensure that it lasts as long as possible so that you can enjoy its comforts for many years.
