How to Improve Your Bathroom

How to Improve Your Bathroom
Home renovation has been popular for years, with many keen homeowners wishing to improve their properties instead of taking on the cost of moving home because they prefer to enhance the look of their own space.
Of course you can convert the entire bathroom, including the suite, cabinets, accessories, flooring, lighting – in fact, the list goes on. You can even carry out major works to add to the size of your space by extending out into other rooms of the house and even extending the home.
But it’s also very easy to enhance your bathroom by changing the accessories, linens and some of the décor – which is great if you are saving up to complete larger works later on. Improving the look of your bathroom can be a lovely way to freshen an otherwise dull or tired space and it can give you years to enjoy your new space.
Adding style and character can be done affordably and can help you to inject a little bit of colour that you can change when you get bored.
Here are some tips to revamping your bathroom if you have allocated just a little bit of spare money to invest for now:
Towels & Linen
You needn’t use expensive fixtures and fittings unless you want to nor should you have to invest in pricey construction and major works in your bathroom. You can find local quality stores selling excellent quality cotton towels and linens in a whole host of colours. Whether you opt for luxury hotel-styled whites, or wish to add pastels or bright colours, new towels will really make a difference.
Accessories
Faux flowers, mirrors, retro wall plaques, painted wooden mouldings and shelves as well as canvases – all of these things can help add character and charm to a plain bathroom. Even if your space is completely white and quite stark it’s easy to add colour and personality to the bathroom. And if you like seasonal colours, duck egg blues, peaches, pastel greens and yellows are trending this spring, not just in the fashion world but in home furnishings too.
Warm colours are great in north facing bathrooms and cooler paler colours are great in south facing rooms so check out a colour wheel (usually available from the paint section at your local DIY retailer) and start playing with contrasting and clashing colours to see how brave you can be!
Colour
Brush a colour over wooden base units to inject a little more pizzazz. Try adding a seaside feel by painting panelling in coastal blues and adding blue or raspberry red decorative items and towels. Or try a country feel by using traditional shades on shelving, or simply on one feature wall. You may even want to try a modern bright shade as a focal point, before adding crisp white accessories such as linen and decorative pieces.
Even a cast iron roll top tub, if you are lucky enough to have one, can be painted using an enamel paint for a beautiful traditional look.
Taps
Try simply replacing your taps to give your bathroom a nice sheen again. Even plugs and sockets can be changed and it can feel almost like having a spring clean! Old taps can tarnish and stain, so by altering them for newer ones you can make a big difference.
By modernising older taps, or changing those you inherited when you moved in for some that are more your taste, you can really change your bathroom’s appearance for the better – and personalise it to suit you. Why not take a look at some of out fantastic looking taps? They’ll really add a little bit of wow to your space.
